Mermaid Commission Progress 2

Haven't had much time to paint these days.

Here's some progress on the mermaid piece.  I like the figure better.  The flow feels better.  The overall color balance is looking decent as well, I think.

Now it's refining all the details.

I was inspired by all the pastel work that the Pixar artists did on Finding Nemo storyboards, so I thought I'd try a similar approach.

Here's a piece I just started.  Getting a little stuck with the coloring, but more important the figure feels too stiff.

Back to the old face.  Much better I think!  The key was to rotate the eyes and shave off some of the jaw.  Took me forever to realize that though.

I really did not like the face on the last one.  So here's another attempt.  Instead of trying to lift her face for the upturned nose, I'm just trying a straight on shot.
